Miniature Horses

We have many friends that have been driving and working with miniature horses for years. They kept telling us how much fun they were having and how easy it is to haul everywhere. We were finally convinced a few years ago. We started with a foal from Texas Tykes miniatures named Hidalgo. He has since grown up and become our favorite driving horse! It is UNBELIEVABLY easy to just put all our stuff into the trailer and go. And we know what we are talking about! After years of hauling our big horses and carriages, this is pure pleasure. There are plenty of shows to attend and so many things you can do with your miniatures!!

We thought everyone should see how much fun this is, so this section was added to our web site. Keep coming back. We will be updating with all our new adventures.

Thanks to Texas Tykes Miniatures for having quality miniatures at a reasonable price! They are so honest and genuinely nice people. No wonder they have become dear friends! Everyone should check out the miniatures they have for sale before going anywhere else.

Hidalgo
AMHR – GMC Good News Hidalgo
DOB: 4/2005
Gelding
Price: Not for Sale
Height: 35"

Write Up/Temperament/Skills: Hidalgo is truly one of our favorite horses. Our first miniature and we raised him from a foal. He is super sweet and nothing seems to phase him. He is an amazing driving horse! Although he can be pokey if you aren't paying attention. His antics are hilarious. Mr. Twist was very unsure when he came to us. As any horse is at a new home. Well, Hidalgo was so happy to have a new friend, that he pestered Mr. Twist until he would relax and play with him. Now they are great friends, showing off together. They will bite each others knees and show their big "stallion rearing." There is nothing funnier than seeing them do that - remember that Mr. Twist is 32" and Hidalgo is 35". In the mini world, that can be a big difference. They keep us rolling!

Mr Twist
AMHR – Fort Storey's Little Mr. Twist
DOB: 4/1995
Gelding
Price: Not for Sale
Height: 32"

Write Up/Temperament/Skills: Mr. Twist came to us from Texas Tykes Miniatures. We all thought he was so sweet and gentle. I think he suckered all of us! He has so much personality and knows how to keep all the mini ladies in line. He will puff up and show us all what a flashy man he is. He has become the official mini mascot of Lone Star Friesians' miniature horse division.

Pacman
AMHR – Little Americas Clearly Pacman
DOB: 4/2000
Gelding
Price: Not for Sale
Height: 34.75"

Write Up/Temperament/Skills: Pacman is a really neat horse. He is very gentle and willing to do anything we ask. He is a stunning grey Appaloosa! So flashy, we hope the judges notice him in the ring. Before we came along and gelded Pacman, his previous foals had his wonderful disposition. I mention this, because you sometimes come across a stallion that you think may be wonderful, but don't want a stallion. That was the case here. He is currently trained to drive and acts like a gentleman each time we are out. I am glad we didn't skip him, simply because he was a stallion. We have driven in shows and even the speed events with him. We are having a great time together.

Finn
NFHR - Flicka's Finn
DOB: 4/1994
Gelding
Price: Not for Sale
Height: 14.3 hh

Wright Up/Tempermant/Skills:
Finn is a prime example of the Fjord horse! He is a gentle, willing partner in anything you ask. Finn came to us from Colorado. Like a trooper, he has put up with the heat and humidity without a fuss. Happy to see me each day. Ready to go on a ride, when other horses are grumpy in the heat. Finn watches out for his buddies Hidalgo and Pacman. What big horse can you put out with minis?!?!? Very few. But, Finn guards over them and even gets involved in their antics once in a while. Rusty will be joining them in August.

Finn is a dream to ride! His size and wonderful disposition allow anyone to ride him. We were told that a long ago owner had said he had driven, but the current owners hadn't tried. So, I took him to my driving trainer to find out. Sure enough. He drives and is very forgiving. Being Finn, he remembered everything, forgave my mistakes and looked beautiful in his cart!

Height: 43.5"

Wright Up/Tempermant/Skills:
First, we have to say a special thank you to High Kick Miniatures for allowing us to purchase this special horse! He is truly amazing!
As a 3 year old, he has already won:
Top Tens - 2009 All Stars
2009 LSPC Hi Pt Classic Performance
2009 ASPC/AMHR Club North Tx Hi Pt Classic Performance

Rusty will be going to the ASPC/ASPR Congress 2010 show. He will be shown by Martha and Suzie Sylva. I will post the results as soon as we have them!

It is hard to believe Rusty is so young. Although, I do get to see his playful side when we are in the paddock together. But, the moment you ask him to work, he gets right down to business. This horse has heart and a willingness to do whatever you ask. He is an exceptional horse and we are excited to have him! Rusty will be coming home after Congress.

Taffy
AMHR – Fleetwood Taffy
DOB: 4/2000
Mare
Price: Not for Sale
Height: 35"

Write Up/Temperament/Skills: Taffy is the dam to our first miniature Hidalgo. We were looking for a match to create a driving team. That is actually a very difficult task, as we found out. We were able to talk Texas Tykes Miniatures out of him. WOW, were we ever lucky! She is a great match and we now drive her as part of a team with Hidalgo. They are too cute! She has the stamina and work ethic to keep going all day. Not to mention we love her exotic Buckskin color. Almost a toffee color to her mane and tail.

Digger Sold: Congratulations High Kick Miniatures
AMHR – Dusty Lane Vegas Gold Digger
DOB: 5/2001
Mare

Write Up/Temperament/Skills: Digger has just come to us from Texas Tykes Miniatures. We are very excited to have her. She is out of the same lines as our other gelding, Hidalgo. I am sure she will be a great addition to our little herd. We can't wait for her to start driving training in the spring!
